Temporary Services, a group from Chicago, put out a book some years ago called ‘Public Phenomena: Informal modifications of shared spaces – a booklet of photographs documenting particular ways in which people shape and remake their everyday urban environments.* You can view the entire PDF here.

Roadside memorials, parking spot place-holders… what kinds of stories do these image collections tell about the city, how we use it, and how we communicate with each other? How is your reading of each picture affected by the whole mass, or by the ones that come before and after it?
